    Tibet trip notes 12

Starting from Lhasa, head upstream along Yarlung Zangbo River and continue on National Highway 318. The leaves on both sides have begun to turn yellow, green, and yellow. In a week, both sides of road will turn yellow, and scenery will be even more magnificent. In Shigatse we saw Tashilhunpo Monastery, which is comparable to Potala Palace. According to information, it is associated with Gandan Monastery, Sera Monastery, Drepung Monastery in Lhasa, Kumbum Monastery in Qinghai and Labab in Gansu. Leng Monastery is listed as "Six Great Monasteries" of Gelug sect of Tibetan Buddhism and is an important monastery in Lhasa. Leaving Shigatse, we headed to Tingri region, preparing to leave for Everest Base Camp tomorrow. Compared to peaks of previous two days, hills here are mostly not green, but earthy yellow, from a distance it seems that stones are not visible from outside, so there are reminders on sides of caution of mudflows. If heavy rain falls on such an area, it is true that roads will be blocked due to landslides. The mountain barley on both sides of road has turned yellow, now it is harvesting, in some places barley has already been harvested, and crushed barley has been dumped in field. The sun is still shining and white clouds are still floating. We follow 318, cross 5000 km mark and climb several mountains, some of which exceed 5000 meters above sea level. Fortunately, we adapted in a few days. ago, and now height of 5000 meters seems to be nothing .. a special answer. Before us, we approached Mount Everest National Wildlife Refuge and entered Everest National Park. Tomorrow morning we will go to Everest base camp. Looking forward to good weather tomorrow and we will be able to see Everest rise from base camp.
