My travels abroad (9) Trip to Sri Lanka (1)

While working in Pakistan, in September 2015, in local Eid al-Adha, company had a day off, and I took advantage of day off to fly to Sri Lanka on my own.

Before setting off, I read introduction in detail, consulted with a travel agency, referred to travel experience of many people on Internet, and then chose route on my own, so route is relatively free. At Colombo airport in Sri Lanka, driver and guide took me and walked as planned.

Sri Lanka, island country known as "Tears of Indian Ocean", says she is a teardrop, which means she is small and beautiful at same time. Along way, I chatted with driver, and through him I also learned a lot about customs and customs of Sri Lanka.

Among what driver told us there, there is a free yiliao, even a moving shoushu is free. Education is also free. As long as you can work hard and pass exam, even if you can get a master's or doctoral degree, it's free. Of course, you must be admitted to a university there, such as University of Colombo and Kandy. If you want to study abroad, you must bear costs yourself. There, law stipulates that men can marry at age of 20, and women at age of 18. There are no restrictions on having children, and authorities encourage multiple pregnancies, but average family usually only has 2 or 3 children, and everyone has their own correct judgment.

Later, while I was having breakfast at Regent Hotel in Kandy, I saw a couple in national costumes taking wedding photos. Next to them were two best men, two bridesmaids, two guys and two girls dressed in bright clothes. , with a smile on his face, happiness is written in everything. Look at bride who looks very young, just like a child, but will join ranks of women. The driver also said that protection of women and children is also implemented in Sri Lanka. Women's work there is also light and does not have physical strength, such as teachers, clerks, saleswomen, etc., and drivers, like drivers, everything is done men. For many days there, from north to south, I did not see a female driver, even if she was driving a small three-wheeled vehicle. All taxis here are cycle rickshaws, as in capital of Colombo. What we usually call a woman-man may not be found there.

Early in morning, on road you can see groups of schoolchildren dressed in a uniform white school uniform, walking along road in pairs and threes, or waiting for a bus to school at station, their faces count so innocently and carefree. The road is very clean, there is nothing around, and trees along sides are lush, I thought that in Vietnam. When car drives along road, it becomes so calm, no chimney, no dust, no noisy and harsh voices can be heard. With exception of Colombo, most places do not have high-rise buildings. In Kandy, a busy place, only 4-5-story houses can be seen. Most of them are bungalows, all of them are hidden among trees. Residents living there must have a high index of happiness.

In Sri Lanka, locals are very simple and natural, and they are also very punctual. The driver will arrive at a certain time, and will only arrive in advance, and will definitely not be late. I really like it a lot, unlike Pakistan, who agree on good time, 10 minutes or even 20 minutes late, they will think it's very normal. In addition, in Sri Lanka, we also found that locals are very sensitive to observance of law. There, except for Colombo, most roads in other places are two-lane, when overtaking you have to wait for a convenient moment to accelerate and overtake, there was not a single camera installation on road. And there are few traffic lights on highway, so when crossing and crossing intersection, they are slow and polite. There, zebra crossing zone is an area formed by two yellow lines, which is specially used for pedestrians to cross road, and of course there are no traffic lights on side. The driver told us that if an accident occurs in Juanse area, driver will go to jail, so when a vehicle passes through Juanse area and sees someone who appears to be crossing road, vehicle slows down or even stops. and wait, very consciously. In addition, many roads do not have street lamps, and if there are cities, they are few and brightness is limited, but this does not affect conscious compliance of drivers with traffic rules.
