    The trip to Sri Lanka started from Colombo, turned around and returned to Colombo. Along way, in addition to marveling at cultural relics, we also visited famous Ceylon black tea factory and an exhibition of sapphires, which are trademark there.

    In Colombo, I stayed at Mount Lavinia Hotel overlooking beach. This is also famous Mount Lavinia beach, which is located in south of Colombo and is also a recreational area relatively close to Colombo.

    Colombo, capital, is located on southwestern coast of Sri Lanka, on shores of Indian Ocean. It is largest city and commercial center of Sri Lanka, as well as gateway to Sri Lanka. It is known as "Eastern Crossroads" and is one of important trading ports. Famous in world.

    The driver told me that Colombo means "sea paradise" in local language. Since it is close to sea, it has beautiful scenery. It is a beautiful city with a pleasant climate, wide and clean streets, and coconut trees on both sides of road, with many different styles of buildings.

    There are many attractions in Colombo such as National Museum of Colombo, Vihamahadewi Park, Independence Square, which are not to be missed, as well as Zamaye Buddhist Temple, Red Mosque and so on. The whole city has beautiful coastal scenery, bustling night markets, towering skyscrapers, sumptuous temple halls and a romantic and colorful holiday atmosphere, forming unique urban charm of Colombo.

    Entrance to Vihamahadevi Park

    The National Museum is ancient museum of Sri Lanka. This majestic two-storey white building houses cultural relics from various historical periods of Sri Lanka, such as various fossils, bronzes, copper sculptures, stone carvings, gems, etc. as well as Kandy. King of Kandy and lion throne brought from Kandy. In addition, museum's library contains more than 200,000 books and manuscripts, of which more than 4,000 are Bayeux books, which record ancient scriptures and Buddhist teachings of Sri Lanka. The museum also houses "Zheng He Stele" which was discovered in 1912 and built here by Zheng He of Ming Dynasty in China. The top of stele is engraved with reliefs of two dragons playing with pearls and was mainly used to record purpose of Zheng He's visit to Sri - Lanka Inscriptions in three languages: Chinese and Tamil.

    Colombo Seaside Boulevard

    Independence Square, February 4, 1948, Sri Lanka officially declared independence, and ceremony was held in this square. In center of square is National Memorial Hall of Sri Lanka, built by Sri Lankan authorities to commemorate country's independence from British colonial rule. The beams and columns of memorial hall are carved with exquisite frescoes depicting history of Buddhism, myths and legends of Sri Lanka. The memorial hall is lined with realistic stone lions of various shapes. Lions are of great importance to Sri Lanka. In the culture of Sri Lanka, lions are a symbol of courage and strength and are respected by people.

    Colombo City Hall is known as "White House of Colombo". It looks exactly like White House in United States. It was built by British and is a neoclassical building. On opposite side of town hall is Vihamahadevi Park, which is also largest park in Colombo, it was once called Victoria Park and was also built by British. Later, Sri Lanka changed its name to Vihamahadevi Park in memory of mother of King Dutugemunu, hero who returned to his homeland. Now Vihamahadevi Park is a good place for locals to relax.

    Colombo City Hall

    The verdant Gale Face is actually a beautiful waterfront avenue with Indian Ocean on one side and modern buildings of Colombo on other. The square is located in financial and commercial area of ​​Colombo, stretching for half a kilometer along coast of Indian Ocean, this is a good place to watch sunset. Covering an area of ​​5 hectares, area is largest recreation area in Colombo, as well as a good place for recreation and entertainment for locals. Unfortunately, day I was there, weather was bad and it rained all time, so I missed opportunity to watch sunset over Indian Ocean.
