Penang
Penang has largest foreign population. There are many beaches in Penang that are worth strolling along, and if you have a boat, there are also many piers. Penang also has mountains for hiking, bird watching and walking.
Georgetown
The biggest attraction of island is capital, Georgetown. It is a cosmopolitan city with many restaurants, cafes and art galleries. There are also racetracks and golf clubs, as well as many other five-star facilities, clubs, and numerous expat organizations offering a variety of activities for their members.
Ipoh
South of Penang is city of Ipoh. It is located in center of Malaysia. An old mining town, many of its buildings date back to colonial times. A few years ago, Ipoh underwent a change, and now a new coffee culture reigns here. There are often market events here on Sundays, and people from Penang often come here to taste variety of delicacies.
Kuala Lumpur
Moving south (toward Singapore), you will find yourself in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia's lively cool capital. Kuala Lumpur is a busy capital. There are concert halls, many art galleries, cafes and shopping malls. Expats who live here tend to enjoy feel of being in a big city or enjoying entertainment and working conditions of a big city.
Malaka
Melaka has varying levels of maturity, but is very close to both Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, making it attractive. It's quiet and most cafes in city close by 7pm. People who live here like to go to Kuala Lumpur or Singapore for weekend.
Malaysian Islands
Malaysia has 878 islands. Most of them are uninhabited, but some of these small islands have become wonderful weekend getaways.
Langkawi has largest population. It is located in northwest Malaysia, just a two-hour ferry ride from Penang. This Malay island is dominated by beautiful beaches and blue waters. The island has many entertainment venues and five-star hotels that welcome tourists from all over world.
