But in Czech Republic it seems that all power is concentrated in one place. Politics, culture, media, jobs, opportunities. People live differently than in other parts of country, like vegans or Asian brunches, and they dress in pretty blues or purples.
Locals in Prague are also proud of their local accent (which I think is fun, slow, with longer vowels, and seems to be hated by everyone else in country).
The salary is higher than anywhere else, but so are rent (nearly double, triple), eating out and basically everything else.
Many people are constantly in a bad mood
The average Czech you meet on street is likely to be in a hurry to go somewhere else, looking like he's having a bad day. This hysteria even extends to driving and public transport. For your own good, please don't get fooled by civil service bureaucracy, don't get stuck in your car, and don't need help of others.
Languages are complex. I mean: very difficult
I think this is one of most difficult countries in Europe and the world to learn a language, perhaps second only to China. It is estimated that it takes approximately 4 years of study for a person to achieve fluency in a language.
People love being naked
Czechs are very casual about nudity. For example, when you accept an invitation to a sauna. In fact, in most places, entry in bathing suits is strictly prohibited! But my friends had no problem swimming naked in local river or lake, even if it was full of picnics.
Xenophobia on rise
When it comes to CEIBS, everyone is always very confused. But here everything is much softer, Czechs do not like extreme views on racism, like on many other topics. This is not a culture of strong and radical opinions.
The country, and Prague in particular, has a very strong international outlook and is right in middle between Eastern and Western Europe, so it has always been a natural cultural crossroads.
Obsession with time and planning
"The Czechs are obsessed with time!"
Czechs are almost always in a hurry somewhere, and they just like to keep their agenda as tight as possible, and then some more. From (early morning) to sunset they just have to be busy. Work, leisure, cultural and social time, everything is organized and planned with greatest possible detail. If you are 5 minutes late, you are late.
