Travel to South America alone, go to Bolivia and see mirror of sky - Salt Lake!
The bus trip from La Paz, capital of Bolivia, to Uyuni took 9 hours. It was gray when we arrived and local travel agency was closed. We were taken to a local fast food place by an elderly lady, but we found out that tourists were having breakfast here, which scared me. It turned out that all of their cars to Salt Lake City were on schedule, and they came only occasionally, just like they used to take bus from Copacabana to La Paz. All I've learned is that it's impossible to arrive early if you start early, and you can arrive late if you start late. I didn't sleep all night that night.
After breakfast, wait for bus at travel agency. The travel agency here will help you with your luggage, but valuables must be carried in your luggage and rest can be left at travel agency. The three-day journey started around 10 am, so I had no choice but to wait here for bus. At 10:30 our car finally arrived. The driver was ok but driver didn't speak English so we could only communicate with our hands. We found out that driver had to pick up 5 more people to airport. A few people speak English.
In fact, before a tourist group in Bolivia goes to salt lake in Uyuni, they come to local market and wait here for half an hour. And driver of our car was no exception, he put us here to pick up other guests, so I got off at this strange place, to be honest, I was a little worried that old driver would leave us here Market, once gone, never look back. Luckily driver returned half an hour later with a Brazilian family of four and their little daughter could speak English which was great. At noon we went to salt house, ready for dinner.
After lunch, we hit road again. Many friends who have traveled around Tibet by car know that there are cars on road, and we stop to take pictures when we arrive at a scenic spot. The degree of tourism development in Uyuni is still good. Because salt lake in Uyuni is actually a lake, and in front it looks like a mountain, but it's actually a good idea. When rainy season comes, you cannot come here, because lake is too watery to drive a boat, and water is too much to drive a car. There are plants on this mountain, cacti with a history of hundreds of years.
Seeing an island in a salt lake, driver brother said that we were now preparing to go to hotel, but there were still more than 3 hours ahead, so I was shocked. Tonight's dinner is provided by hotel, so there is no need to eat cold food. The moon is also very round today, but if you want to see star trails, it is basically hopeless, because there are too many people living here and everyone is charging.
