Summer is just around the corner, the desire to go to the beach increases as well as the desire of sunbathing. However, sometimes enthusiastic to get tanned – or sleepy –, we end up red and burnt by the sun. So, what to do? Well, if you are obsessed with natural remedies like me, the answer is simple: Aloe Vera.
THANKS NATURE: YOU ALWAYS HELP US!
I knew this plant and its uses many years ago, even though I heard talking about it many times, thanks to a friend who was travelling with me in Portugal. I was lying in an amazing beach near Porto Covo when, while thinking about many things, I ended up sleeping under the sun. When I woke up, my legs and part of my back were red. In that moment, I played down but, after the shower, I was redder and sore. I clearly remember that my friend said me we had to find the aloe vera plant and that we were in the right place because in the Southern Europe there is a plenty of it. Said and done. Once found the plant (no problem, it is easy to recognise), we cut some leaves and covered the sunburnt skin with its juice… What an immediate relief it was! I repeated the treatment for some days, and then I was perfectly healed and tanned!
Aloe vera has several beneficial effects, long known in many traditional medicines and today confirmed by scientific studies too.
IT IS PARTICULARLY KNOWN FOR ITS ANTI-INFLAMMATORY AND SOOTHING BENEFICIAL EFFECT IN CASE OF BURN.
This healing power is in the juice obtained from the plant’s leaves. The Aloe Vera is particularly spread in many hot and dry climate areas of the world – it originates from the Mediterranean basin – and can be also cultivated in pot. It is possible to cut its leaves and apply the juice obtained directly on the skin, or to buy aloe vera gel or cream and proceed in the same manner in order to heal the burn.
After having cleaned and cooled the burnt area with a mild soap and fresh water, plug it with a towel (do not rub because it may cause blisters), then apply a good amount of aloe vera and massage. Heal the burn applying aloe vera 2/3 times a day until redness and pain are reduced.
– protecting gastric and intestinal mucosal. Therefore, it can be used in case of colitis and gastritis, but only if the aloin is removed because, otherwise, it may cause the worsening of these disorders (you can find an aloin-free aloe vera juice),
